World premiere for Petrenko: Bartok on Stage

Mikhail Petrenko joins the Cleveland Orchestra and Franz Welser-Möst for a world premiere of an innovative double-bill of staged opera and ballet; an all- Bartok programme of the ballet 'The Miraculous Mandarin' and his well-known opera, 'Bluebeard’s Castle'.

"The Orchestra will be incorporated into the staging of both works, allowing us to be even more creative with the use of space. It is important for us to present new productions, for the musicians to grow in their understanding of each work and for audiences to see these masterful works with a fresh perspective" said Music Director Franz Welser-Möst. Joffrey Artistic Director of the Joffrey Ballet Ashley Wheater said, "the audience will feel the absolute power of dance and the voice altogether in one space."

Mikhail Petrenko is joined by soprano Katarina Dalayman for the performances which are staged by Yuri Possokhov.
